Zydeco is the country music of Louisiana. Played predominantly on accordion and rub-board it is a faced-paced music genre rooted in the black Creole communities of South West Louisiana. Although zydeco's reach is now international there are still many practices central to Creole culture that go largely unknown to outsiders. One such practice is that of the trail rides which remain the social linchpin of many of these rural communities. People bring their horses from far and wide to collectively ride out into the countryside for a day of eating, drinking and dancing.
